LinkedIn Video Marketing Tips & Tricks

We’ve all heard that video marketing is king on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, but have you ever put any thought into utilizing video marketing on LinkedIn? Though the LinkedIn feed tends to be filled with job updates, job postings and job memes, video does still have a place on this particular social network. The key to effective LinkedIn video marketing, however, is knowing what types of videos you should be posting on LinkedIn. That’s why we’re going to show you some LinkedIn video marketing tips & tricks to help you stand out on that platform.

Approach Things Differently

Instagram, YouTube and TikTok have a lot of consumers on their platforms. Because of this, businesses need to focus on creating videos that cater to consumers / the specific audiences that engage with those social networks. In other words, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok are very focused on business to consumer (B2C) marketing.

The difference with LinkedIn, however, is that it’s made up of mostly professionals and / or businesses. This means that, depending on the product or service that you’re trying to sell, you need to approach your LinkedIn videos in more of a business to business (B2B) kind of way.

To do this, you need to create videos that help solve problems that your target business / professional customers are trying to solve. In essence, you need to showcase your business as a thought leader in your industry. The video content you produce then becomes the visual, 21st century vehicle to showcase your expertise.

Sure, you could post infographics or write articles, but, in today’s digital world, video content gets the most engagement, so positioning yourself as a thought leader in your chosen industry through video marketing just makes sense.

Sprinkle in Your Business

The nice thing about video content is that you can say a lot in a small amount of time. Though you want to stay focused on helping solve your customers’ problems, you should also focus a little bit on, of course, marketing your business too. You just don’t want to over do it and hav your video become too much of a sales pitch. The key is to again make videos that show your customers how they can solve their problems, while sprinkling in a little information about how your business can solve the problem even faster and easier than they could themselves.

This, my friends, is good old classic content marketing - except in video form. As you write the script for your LinkedIn videos, explain how doing x will help solve problem y, but also slide in that your business can do x to solve y in half the time.

If you incorporate both high value content as well as a bit of information about your business into your LinkedIn videos, overtime your potential customers will not only see you as a thought leader in your particular industry, but also as the go to business to solve that problem for them.

Show, Don’t Tell

Lastly, B2B videos do run the risk of coming off as a bit dry. To ensure your videos are engaging, try and get across your point by incorporating a story, and really showing your customers that the solution you and your business are providing actually works. One of the best ways to do this is by incorporating a previous client’s story into the video (as long as they are ok with this).

Seeing and hearing about a real person’s story helps show your potential customers that the solution you’re showcasing in your video actually works, versus telling them it works. When we tell someone that a solution works, the person has to decide whether or not they believe you based on your word alone. When we show someone a solution works, it becomes easier to believe it does, as we can see the result with our own eyes.

So, as the digital world moves more and more towards video, make sure you utilize these LinkedIn video marketing tips and tricks to stand out from the crowd. Video is a powerful marketing tool, and B2B businesses on LinkedIn can benefit from it too. Just remember to approach your LinkedIn video projects a bit differently, sprinkle in a bit about your business, and show, don’t tell.
