How to Repurpose Video Content

So, you keep hearing how important it is to create video content for your brand, but you’re still not convinced that you should be putting your hard earned marketing dollars towards actually creating high quality videos. This is understandable, especially in a world where social media videos are posted, relevant for a few hours, and then lost in the abyss of the algorithm.

But, what if you could repurpose video content so that you could utilize it in your marketing efforts for the long run, and even post it on social media in the process? Well, my video marketing friends, there are tons of ways you can repurpose the video content you produce. We’ve already outlined in a previous article how you can develop evergreen video content that is meant to stand the test of time online, but here we’re going to show you you can repurpose any of your existing video content and make it keep working for you, even if you produced it for a one-time post on social media.

Website Header Video

If you’ve filmed a bunch of content over the past 6 months or year for various social media posts, why not try editing some of that video content into a website header video?

Website header videos are a great way to repurpose video content, as they can really add a lot of dynamic to your website’s homepage, and, in the process, create more engagement from your potential customers. High quality photography is fairly typical for most business website headers; high quality compilation videos, however, stand out a bit more.

The other nice thing about a website header video is that you can really showcase what your brand is all about fairly quickly. This is great, because, when potential customers land on your website, you’re hoping that they read through your various web pages to learn about your brand. A lot of the time, viewers don’t make it through too much of your content before bailing on your site. A header video helps make sure that more potential customers learn about what your brand is all about before they hit the exit button.

Try curating 4-5 different sets of clips from previous videos you’ve filmed, and then edit them into a 30 second sequence that can loop on your homepage. Drop it on your homepage banner, and watch it come to life.

Take Them to Conferences / Events

If you’ve spent your hard earned money on promotional videos / advertisements for your business, make sure you also utilize them at conferences / events where your brand sets up an information booth. Most conference booths either provide screens, or have a power supply so that you can bring your own screen. Just make sure to keep your promotional video(s) playing on a loop!

The same concept as the website header video applies here too. The idea is to showcase what your brand is all about fairly quickly, so, as people walk by your booth at the conference / event, they can briefly stop, take in the video, and then leave your booth with a good understanding of your business.

Next time you sign up for an event or host a conference, remember to bring your promotional videos and a screen if needed. It’ll really liven up your booth!

Play Them in Your Lobby / Office

If you have an office with a lobby, place a TV in it and run your promotional videos on a loop all day. That way, whoever checks-in will be able to watch your videos while they wait to enter the office. This works great for showcasing product videos or videos outlining your company’s services.

If you don’t have a lobby, strategically placing a screen or two around the office to show your videos can also be effective. They really just need to be placed in an area / position that is visible when your potential customers walk through the door!

So, if you’re looking for a few different ways to repurpose your video content, try compiling the footage into a website header, or playing them at conferences, events and around your office. The idea is to keep them in view of potential customers so that your hard earned marketing dollars keep working for you, and so that your potential customers can continually learn about your business quickly.
